Today we would like to introduce one of the East Side Gallery artists.
Casanueva was born in Cuba, now resident in Berlin and artist committed to her work. She studied painting, printmaking and textiles at the Burg Giebichenstein Higher Institute of Art and Design in Halle, Germany. Teresa Casanueva specialized in painting at the Higher Institute of Arts of her native city, Havana.
An interesting fact about the painter is that most of her work has been as a background artist for film and television. Her work includes Warner Bros’ “The little polar bear”, Motionworks Halle’s “Princess Lillifee” or Rothkirch’s “Little Dodo”, among others.
Her painting “Shoots” is included in our shortfilm. You can visit the artwork at the East Side Gallery in Berlin (Street Mühlenstrasse, 10243). It has a very deep meaning, Teresa shared with us a few comments about this particular mural of hers: ”I used organic forms to allude plants and the anatomy of the human body. The image has an optical marked of fragment, which suggests the growth and expansion beyond the limits of the wall. Its living nature in the inert matter of the concrete in which she has given shape her strokes”.
Currently still in continuing artistic production, you can follow her artwork on her website and get in touch with her in:
